It is hard to believe as I sit here typing this in 90 degree weather but fall is coming y’all! My kids went back to school this week, pumpkin spice everything is about to hit menus everywhere and before you know it the leaves will be falling. This summer seems to have flown by but I’m not going to lie, I am ready for some fall vibes in my life!

I don’t know about you but the start of fall always means more time spent at home, more cooking, baking and just all around coziness. So this month I partnered with the makers of Ball® home canning products to organize my spices. You might be thinking I am getting a bit ahead of myself but there are a lot of great reasons to get your spices organized now using Ball® jars,

5 Reasons to Organize Your Spices for Fall

More Cooking is Ahead – First and foremost, fall is a wonderful time to organize your spices (or anything in your kitchen for that matter) because of all of the amazing cooking ahead of you. The start of fall is the unofficial kick off of cooking season from lunches for back to school to game day snacks to Halloween party treats to Thanksgiving and before you know it the winter holidays. Getting your spices organized now will help set you up for success and eliminate some stress as we head into the end of the year.

Clean Out and Expiration Date Review – Spices can be easily overlooked in your kitchen. They are something that is always but not often given much thought. However, it is important to periodically review your spices’ expiration dates and toss any that might be expired. When decanting spices into jars, like the Ball® Mini Storage Jars, it is important to note the expiration date. I like putting a label on the back or bottom of the jar that can easily be swapped out when you replace or refill.

Create a Cohesive Look – Organizing your spices and decanting them into matching jars can do wonders for the look of your kitchen. Even if your spices are stored in a cabinet or drawer you still see them all of the time and having a cohesive look makes you feel (and stay) more organized.

Stock Up on Favorites – We have all been there, getting ready to bake Aunt Nancy’s famous pumpkin pie and you grab the nutmeg but it is empty, ugh! Now is the perfect time to stock up on all of your favorite spices so you will be ready for all of the cooking and baking that lies ahead. Not only will it make you more prepared for the fall but, if we all learned anything from last year, it doesn’t hurt to have a little extra on hand (anyone else remember when we couldn’t buy yeast?). One of my favorite features of the Ball® Mini Storage Jars is that they are see-through so you always know what you have on hand and what needs to be replaced. Stock up now and you will never run out again!

The Ball® Mini Storage Jars are Adorable – Last but not least the Ball® Mini Storage Jars are absolutely adorable. I love the look of the jars paired with a vintage style label – a classic vibe in the kitchen!

I hope this has inspired you to give your spices a little refresh using the Ball® Mini Storage Jars. Just don’t forget to make yourself a pumpkin spice jar, I mean it is fall after all! And make sure you check out my other blog posts all about how to use Ball® jars throughout your home.

I have been using the mini jars ever since they came out. I love them. You can see what is in them
and I have P Touch so I make lables for everything even things that go into the fridge and on the shelfs
in the pantry, could not live without it.

  2. Phyllis says:

Now all we need are measuring spoons with longer handles

    • Naomie says:

You read my mind! I just use a funnel or iced teaspoon to transfer and measured my ice teaspoon with a measuring spoon and my iced tea spoon is roughly 1.5 times a measured teaspoon.

  3. Sue says:

Can Ball make a storage jar funnel and long handle measuring spoons that can be sold in a package? I use my canning funnel all the time, and would do the same for one that is sized for the storage jars.
